I enjoy learning about web-hosting technology and instead of hosting all my sites on one server, I use different host so that I could keep myself & my readers updated with latest in WordPress Web hosting industry.

I have had absolutely bad experiences with Godaddy and Fatcow hosting services, and I have had some great experiences with budget shared hosting companies such as Bluehost and Hostgator.

As a beginner, selecting the right hosting service is not only crucial, but also a headache! I’m sure for your money quality matters a great deal to you, as it does to me.

Since my area of expertise is WordPress, I can point you toward some of the best WordPress hosting companies you can choose from, depending on your budget.

For a new WordPress blog (traffic less than 20,000/Day), Shared hosting is the best hosting option to start with. If you aren’t familiar with the various types of WordPress hosting options (VPS, dedicated, etc.), you should check out my guide on understanding WordPress hosting packages.

This post is written with WordPress specific Hosting and servers in mind. Because WordPress has evolved into one of the most downloaded self-hosted blogging platforms available, it requires powerful servers. Moreover, without a powerful WordPress caching mechanism, you won’t be able to run a WordPress blog smoothly.

For this reason, you should definitely install either the W3 total cache or Super cache plugin. Both work right out of the box (from installation).

How I selected the best WordPress hosting options:

I have set some basic ground rules in terms of software, cPanel, security, WordPress optimization, PHP version, MySQL version and so on. However, before I share my list of the top WordPress hosts, let’s look at the official requirements needed to run WordPress’s software smoothly in any hosting environment.

One major factor to consider is technical support. WordPress is a memory hungry site, and it requires a database and PHP. Common errors such as the “500 Internal Error“, a blank homepage, or all posts being deleted are some of the issues which you may face with a poor hosting service.

Along with these factors, I also considered what the various hosting companies are offering in their packages. For instance, is it enough for you to host a medium server site or do you require a high traffic site?  Do they have a limit in terms of bandwidth, and can they handle occasional or frequent traffic spikes?

Next, server geographical location is very important for two reasons: Speed and Latency. Server location can have a positive or negative effect on site load time. If you want to create a blog with a great user-experience (which you should), you need to configure CDN on your WordPress blog.

Best WordPress Hosting for Bloggers:

Rather than sharing a long list of the top 10 or 100 WordPress hosting services, this post will discuss only those web-hosting companies that I use for my own blogs, as these are services which I know that you can buy with full confidence.

I will also try to share hosting discount coupons whenever available, as this will help you to save some money.

All of the shared WP hosting services mentioned below cost less than $8/month, and with discount coupons you can expect discounts of between 25% to 45% on the total price.

So let’s get started with our list of recommended hosting companies for WordPress blogs!

Bluehost (Shared )

Bluehost is my top choice for shared hosting, and I currently have many sites hosted on their server.

I first learned about Bluehost from an official WordPress hosting recommendation page, and after trying their service I found that they offer an excellent value for the money.

They are not the cheapest hosting service but their plan currently costs only $3.95/month for the first year, and with unlimited bandwidth and storage, this plan provides very good value for the money.

Bluehost also allows the customer to install multiple WordPress blogs on the same hosting package.

Another great feature of Bluehost is the fact that their servers are well optimised for running WordPress blogs and thus they allow you to install WordPress within 4-5 minutes.

I have already shared a guide with you which will help you to install a WordPress blog on your Bluehost account, and you can read the complete guide here.

If you’d like to read about the detailed features of Bluehost, you can read the complete review here.

If you are not in the mood to read reviews today and are simply looking for a quick recommendation, my suggestion is that you grab your hosting from Bluehost.

Note:  with Bluehost you will get one free domain name with your hosting purchase, saving you money on your first domain name!

Siteground : (Shared)

I started using Siteground in January of 2015, and I loved it immediately.

Siteground has developed an in-house cache technology called Supercacher, which makes a WordPress blog ultra-fast. Supercacher is an advanced website optimization solution, which uses the Varnish web accelerator. I will not go into much detail on this here but, simply stated, Siteground will ensure that your blog can handle high traffic and high loads blazingly fast.

With the link below, you will get 50% off + 1 domain name for life. I recommend that you get their Growbig plan for a two or three-year package.

Kinsta:

In the past, I have used both WPEngine & Cloudways, but at the time of the updating of this resource page (February 2017) We have a monthly traffic of 1.7 million Page views & it’s only Kinsta hosting that is complete value for money, when you have high-traffic WordPress site.

At Kinsta you can get started with $100/month that includes unlimited traffic + free migration. This is really good considering the hosting is top-notch. Kinsta uses HHVM + Nginx, so there is no need for a cache plugin. So far I have had no issues with them, and as a managed WordPress hosting, they are amazing.

For now, these are some of the best WordPress hosting services that I can recommend.  Should I learn of any other noteworthy hosting services for WordPress in the future, I will update the page.
